The Instant Water Heater uses a paraffin burner and is designed for dual use - community or household.
For the community, it can ensure safe water, providing pasteurized water at a rate of more than 3 litres per minute/ 200 liters per hour. When operated 8 hours per day, this will cover the safe drinking water needs of a community of 400.
For the household , it can provide a source of hot water for showering, bathing etc as well as producing safe, pastuerized drinking water.
The Instant Water Heater has the following superior characteristics:
- Instant: When ignited, hot water is available within one minute.
- Continuous: Unlike electric heaters, this unit can continue to produce hot water for hours, at a constant high rate.
- Economical: Certified to heat water at less than half the cost of electric heaters.
- Reliable: Not susceptible to power grid failures.
- Pasteurizes contaminated water: The temperature of hot water can set to exceed 65ºC to destroy water borne bacteria.
- Portable: Can be easily transported. The heater can be assembled on a tripod in minutes.
- Gravity fed: The heater will provide a continuous flow of hot water.
- Safe: The safety has been confirmed by Natal Technikon and the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS).
- Temperature Adjustment: The temperature of the hot water is adjusted by varying the flow rate of the water.
- Robust: The unit is fabricated out of 2mm steel pipes to prevent damage in transit.
- Effect of weather: Wind enhances the efficiency of the system. Rain has no effect on the operation.
- Corrosion resistant: The heater is hot dipped galvanized both inside and outside to prevent corrosion.
